Yizhong Chan is the Founder and CEO of Andaz Private Investments, an Australia-based global investor, and also serves as the investor for all Andaz strategies. Mr. Chan has been involved in the financial services sector for 18 years and has significant investment experience in technology, consumer, media, and financial services sectors, especially in the USA and Asia.

From an Australian perspective, Mr. Chan has one of the strongest global investment track records among Australian investors. As a portfolio manager, and as of 30 June 2025, his performance has delivered not only high absolute returns but also outperformance of more than 10% annually above the S&P 500 for 13 years. This places him among a very small number of investors to have delivered such alpha—even among US-based investors. In the financial markets and hedge fund industry, where competition is fierce and the calibre of talent exceptionally high, his global track record and success rate have made him a valuable contributor to Australia’s landscape.

Prior to founding Andaz, Mr. Chan was a Portfolio Manager at ASX-listed Hunter Hall Investment Management, running a global sleeve of the flagship international fund and the publicly traded listed investment company. At times, Mr. Chan led many of Hunter Hall’s largest technology investments. At its peak, Hunter Hall managed just under $3 billion and Mr. Chan served as Portfolio Manager from 2012 to 2017. He joined the firm in September 2007, around the time of the subprime mortgage crisis and just before the GFC.

An Australian citizen, Mr. Chan was born in Singapore in 1982 to South Korean and Singaporean parents. He has a distinguished multidisciplinary background, holding a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, a Performer Diploma from Indiana University Bloomington in the USA, and both a Bachelor and Master in Music Performance from the University of Freiburg in Germany.
